A biohacker by the name of Amie DD on Hackaday has released a video of her taking out the RFID chip out of her Tesla Model 3 key card and created an implant in her arm.
The chip would work in a similar way to the implants we inject pets with to identify them.
Whilst you may think there are a lot of ways to unlock a Tesla Model 3, a key card, a key fob and the Tesla app, these methods of unlocking your car just don’t have the convenience that AmieDD needs.
It may sound really crazy – and it is – but it’s actually quite a smart idea, by that I mean, how many times have you lost your car keys? Probably too many times to count, and how many times have you lost your arm? EXACTLY.
Tesla’s software security proved to be a hurdle for the bio hacker, she already had an RFID chip implanted in her hand and thought she could transfer the information from her Tesla key card to the chip. Tesla’s security systems prevented that.
She decided to dissolve her Model 3 key card and salvage the RFID chip to implant it in her arm.
After the card was dissolved and she put the chip into a smaller housing encapsulated inside biopolymer that can then be implanted inside her arm.
On her YouTube channel she explained that she had visited doctors to speak about the implant but she said 'they were wary about doing a questionable thing'. A body modification expert named Pineapple helped Amie DD safely implant the chip.
She also went on to say that she had a lot of backlash from people saying that she won't be able to start her car in such a way, it's not secure or it won't work.
The following videos are from Amie DD's channel who documented the process of the Tesla Model 3
This is something we don't recomend you try at home. Yes, it's very weird, but it's also really impressive and looks like something out of a sci-fi film.
It certainly shows what we can do with technology.
What do you think of the Tesla Model 3 hack?
