The new sporty but slightly impractical BMW X2. Do we love it or do we hate it?

Creating a storm of mixed reviews and response, we took the plunge and gave BMW a little piece of our mind on the brand new X2.

The newest member to the impressive SUV team, expected to stand with the likes of BMW’s King SUV (the X5) the pressure is on for the premium German car manufacturer to put their bold cards on the table. And they did.

Here's everything you need to know about the NEW BMW X2.

NEW BMW X2: Pricing

NEW BMW X2: Exterior and Design

Encompassing a sportier look, the X2 kept its promise to provide most of the features on its concept original. An included feature is the BMW badge inset into the C-pillar, with swept-back lights and slim line glass over the hatch.

At first glimpse, although the X1 and X2 share the same wheelbase, the X2 has adopted a sportier look with short overhangs, plus the roofline has been lowered, which means the boot will be 35 litres smaller than the X1 but will give an attractive illusion of a coupe.

NEW BMW X2: Interior and Technology

Inside, you’d be happy to find enough leather for that traditional BMW feel and you won’t be disappointed when you sit in the driver’s seat to find everything in its rightful place.

Unique features of the SE includes a sat-nav dual-zone climate control, a power tailgate and 17-inch wheels and body-coloured side skirts.

Keeping it similar to BMW models the X2 will include iDrive, a 6.5-inch infotainment display which is upgradeable to a Touch Control set-up or an 8.8-inch screen with the same features. There will be a head-up display offered as an extra, along with WiFi hotspot preparation and Apple CarPlay

NEW BMW X2: Safety and Driver Assistance

Safety features include ‘The Attentiveness Assistant’ which monitors the driver’s behaviour for signs of fatigue. The system will recommend that the driver take a break if necessary. The BMW Emergency Call is also available as standard in the X2. The vehicle also has city collision mitigation with a light city braking function which warns the driver of potentially critical situations to help prevent accidents (up to 35mph). ‘Dynamic Stability Control+’ is also available as well as Cornering Brake Control, hill-start and brake assist.

BMW has an optional Driver assistance pack called 'The innovative Driver Pack'. This comes with a wide range of features including Park Distance Control (front and rear) which lets off an audio warning of object proximity in relation to the vehicle as well as a visual representation on the Control Display. Park Assist will also be installed and Driving assistant (lane assist and emergency braking feature).

The 'Vision Pack' is another optional feature for the X2 and this includes The Reversing Assist, and the exterior driver side mirror features an automatic anti-dazzle function to protect the driver from glare. This also includes an automatically dimming rear-view mirror and electric folding exterior mirrors.

NEW BMW X2: Engines and Performance
